Government Recognition

Registered with appropriate authorities, legally compliant and actively networked with other organisations and programs in the state and region, Shishu Sarothi has led the Rehabilitation Council of India’s Zonal Coordination Committee for NE India and been the State Nodal Agency Centre for the National Trust in the past, and continues to be an active member of the National Disability Network and other national level advocacy bodies.

Shishu Sarothi is an empanelled Access Auditor under the Accessible India Campaign having conducted numerous Access Audits across the region, including for the Govt of Assam, and is regularly invited to address accessibility issues and conduct orientation programs for the Govt of Assam.

Shishu Sarothi was tasked by the Social Welfare Department of Govt of Assam to conduct a massive state wide Awareness Generation Program in 2019 through a series of zonal and district level meetings with govt officials, civil society and persons with disabilities. Shishu Sarothi also contributed to the drafting of the State Rules for implementation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 and is a member of the Executive Committee of the Axom Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. Regularly invited by the Election Dept to create awareness about accessible election and voter registration, Shishu Sarothi has sensitised Census enumerators about disability data gathering too.
