The Lancang-Mekong (LM) Countries governments set up the economic zones (EZ) as economics strategic instruments to further investment attraction, trade promotion, employment generation, technology and human resource development. There are different types of economic zones including, but not limited to, the ones illustrated below.
The Lancang-Mekong Economic Zone (LM- EZ) online system is, thus, developed as a tool to facilitate trade and investment from within and outside the LM countries which include Cambodia, P.R. China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam. It provides comprehensive information on over 3,000 existing economic zones in the LM countries.
The LM-EZ online system is a component under the “Joint Development of Cross-Border Economic Zones in six Lancang-Mekong (LM) countries” project. Rooted in the mandate of enhancing regional cooperation for equitable economic development, Mekong Institute (MI) is implementing the project in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce, Royal Government of Thailand, funded by Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund (LMCSF).
